When it comes to war, I hope we're all agreed that the shorter the better. So at least on that basis, the war described in this dictation might be considered one of the better wars.
In reality it was a rather one-sided affair, consisting of a colonial power bullying a much weaker nation to force their will on it.
- unfairly giving or dealing with only one side of a contentious issue; biased.E.g. one-sided agitprop that devalues the causes it promotes
- having or occurring on one side of something only.E.g. one-sided documents
Interestingly, while those definitions don't really fit the use of one-sided in my context, it's not uncommon for one-sided to be used in adversarial situations, such as sporting events, to indicate one side is much more powerful and dominates the other.

In 1896, the Anglo-Zanzibar War was fought between the United Kingdom and Zanzibar. This one sided conflict resulted from the appointment of a new Sultan who the British government didn't like. To ensure the appointment of a Sultan who would be more supportive of British interests, the British started a war with Zanzibar that lasted for somewhere between 38 and 45 minutes. On the Zanzibar side, there were about 500 casualties, while the British suffered a single injury. Up until the year 2020, this remains the shortest war ever.
Now listen to the slower version and type what you hear into the text box.
