Pizza is not only a great food, it also has a long and interesting history. The pizza is said to have started life in Italy over 200 years ago. Pizzas need to be cooked at a very high temperature and in the past, families would make the pizza at home and then take it to the bakery to be cooked. The first pizzas did not have cheese on them. It wasn't until 1889 that the first pizza was made with a cheese topping. Today, pizzas are enjoyed around the world with over 3 billion pizzas said to be sold each year!
