Here's a dictation that is an imagined email sent by one person to a friend. In the email, the writer talks about plans for a surprise party for their dad.
You're listening to Joanna
She has an American accent and expects you to use American spelling.
Listen to the complete text from start to finish.
Just a quick email to say that a surprise party for dad sounds like a great idea. Saturday is better for me because I'm meeting my friends on Sunday. So if that's still good for you, why don't we have the party at my house? Then everyone can see my new house and all the work we have done on the house and garden since we moved in. We can surprise dad with a cake and invite all his friends and the rest of the family.
Do you think you can arrange the music? Remember he loves all the old songs. Do you have any music from the 1980s?
I will arrange some games we can play in the garden. It will be a really fun day. We just now need to think of how to get dad to my house and surprise him. Any ideas?
Talk to you soon
Now listen to the slower version and type what you hear into the text box.
