Coca-Cola must be the most popular soft drink in the world and it's the subject of this quick little dictation exercise. If you've ever wondered where the name for the drink came from, the answer awaits you in the dictation.

The Coca-Cola glass bottle has a very distinctive design and was first created in 1915. Did you know, however, that the first contoured bottle design had to be tweaked because the base was too small, meaning the bottles tended to fall over on the conveyor belts used in the factory.

We can use the word tweak in a few ways, but in the paragraph above it means the design had to be adapted or altered.

Coca-Cola or Coke is a popular fizzy soft drink sold around the world. Originally sold in 1886, the name refers to two of the main ingredients. Coca leaves and kola nuts. The full recipe is still a closely guarded secret, though in 1985, the company attempted to change the recipe. However so many customers were upset at the introduction of New Coke, the new recipe was canceled in favor of the original recipe.

Now listen to the slower version and type what you hear into the text box.
