The subject of this short dictation is Batman, the fictional superhero who dresses like a bat. That said, however, if you take a look at our dictation on Superman, you'll see a short discussion about whether Batman is technically a superhero.
Did you know that the word batman goes back a lot longer than the comic book hero!

Batman is a popular superhero who originally appeared in DC Comics. Batman is the alter ego of the rich businessman Bruce Wayne, who lives in Gotham City. There have been many Batman films since the release of Batman in 1989. In these later movies, Batman is seen as a dark and serious character. However, in 1966, Batman: The Movie was released and this was a much more light-hearted affair. In that film, Batman was attacked by a clearly fake shark that he defeated by using shark repellent spray.
Now listen to the slower version and type what you hear into the text box.
